We’re not just engineers, designers, and product thinkers—we’re also parents, caregivers, partners, and neighbors. We understand the real-life challenges of managing a home, and are building solutions we’d want for our own families. With deep experience across hardware, software, and customer experience, our team is united by a shared belief that smart home technology should be accessible and seamless. We are here to make effortless, secure access the new standard for everyone.
Durin is led by co-founder Herman, a tech industry veteran with 16+ years of experience in video ecosystems, smart home and smart access. The last company Yau founded, Tend, was acquired by Chamberlain Group.
A technical powerhouse, Durin’s co-founder Frederik brings extensive experience from Amazon’s massive scale (AWS and Alexa) to startup hyperscaling at Wyze. As a rare tech leader who is laser focused on customers, Frederik leads the coalescence of the unique set of technologies that enable Durin’s vision.
With more than 30 years of experience developing video and audio technology, Byron has spent his career turning complex engineering challenges into products people can actually use. His expertise spans the full development journey, from board-level circuit design and chip specification to bringing finished products to market. At Durin, he leads the technology and product organization in Taipei, bringing together hardware, firmware, product management, and key supplier partnerships to turn big ideas into products built for the real world.
As a multi-dimensional product leader with broad and deep experience in translating innovation concepts to commercial success, Beril combines deep empathy for consumers with analytics to deliver exceptional user experiences.
